The Big Takeover

We got a nice little write-up in the latest issue of the great music magazine The Big Takeover. Here's what they had to say:

Northwest Ordinance, The
State of Ohio

(False Profit)
There's something great about lo-fi garage rock records. Like it almost sounds as if you could be discovering some old lost classic. Whether it's 1968 or 2008, angst being taken out on guitars and drums sounds remarkably the same as long as you don't mess with it too much, and State is a pretty straight to tape sort of experience. That's not to say NO doesn't do anything original with the genre or their instruments, for that matter; it's just they don't try to pretty it up on production or by adding keyboards or strings or anything. File under: rustbelt, cheap beer, and The Stooges.
